SEO is the work of making sure the right searches find your site, and that the page they land on answers them. Search now happens in two places — the results page, and AI assistants that summarise instead of linking — and both reward the same thing: a site that is easy to crawl, unambiguous about what it is, and genuinely useful on its topic.
Why a site usually does not rank
The cause is usually one of a short list, and often not the obvious one.
- Google cannot find or index the pages that matter — they are blocked, orphaned, duplicated or buried many clicks deep.
- Pages target the wrong intent: a service page trying to rank for a question, or an article trying to sell.
- Several pages compete for the same search, so none of them wins it.
- The content repeats what the top results already say, so there is no reason to rank it above them.
- Few other sites link to it, so it carries little authority on competitive searches.
- The page is slow or unstable on a phone, which is where most searches happen.
What the work covers
Technical
Crawl and index control, site architecture, internal linking, Core Web Vitals, canonical logic, and international targeting where you sell in more than one market.
Content
Keyword and intent research turned into a content map: which pages exist, what each is for, and how they link. Pages answer the question first and earn the rest of the reader's time after.
Answer engines
Organisation, service, article, FAQ and breadcrumb structured data, consistent naming, and self-contained answers an AI assistant can quote correctly.
Authority
Links and mentions from relevant sites — directories, partners, publications. Never bought links, which put the whole domain at risk.
The audit comes first
Every engagement starts with an audit of technical health and current visibility, and ends with a fix list ranked by impact against effort. That order matters: the first month goes on the changes most likely to move something, not the ones easiest to report.
Because we also build websites, the fixes can be implemented as part of the same engagement rather than handed to your developers as a document.
How long it takes
Technical fixes can show an effect within weeks, once Google recrawls the pages. Content and authority work compounds more slowly: on a competitive set of searches, a meaningful trend usually takes three to six months to appear, and newer sites with little existing authority sit at the slower end of that range.
Anyone promising results in days is either working on searches nobody makes, or taking risks with your domain.
What the monthly report shows
Rankings on their own are the least useful number. The report follows the chain from rankings to organic traffic to enquiries and sales, using Google Search Console and your own analytics rather than a third-party tool's estimate — and says in writing what we are changing next month, and why.
We do not guarantee rankings. No agency controls Google's results, and one that promises a position is either guessing or planning something you would not approve of.
Questions people ask about SEO
Largely through the same work. AI assistants draw on pages that are crawlable, clearly structured and explicit about who you are and what you do. Structured data and consistent entity information are standard in our SEO work, not an add-on.
Usually, on a longer horizon. A new domain has no history and few links, so early progress comes from specific, lower-competition searches — questions, niches, locations — rather than broad terms. The audit sets out which searches are realistic.
Yes. The audit covers whatever platform the site runs on, and the fix list is written so either we or your own developers can implement it.
